Never throw plastic baits in the water
There was a time, back when gas was 80 cents a gallon and bass guys wore jumpsuits, that it was considered acceptable to throw a used plastic worm over the side of the boat. Today, you might as well kick a child in the face. Never pitch your plastics in the lake. No not never. Never never never never never. For one thing, it’s littering and that’s illegal and downright scoundrel-y. For another thing, plastics stay in the water forever … unless something eats them. In which case, that something might die. If it doesn’t die, it will not live as successfully. Especially scented plastics get eaten by fish where they cause digestive tract blockages, limited growth rates, malnourishment, and ultimately death. Torn up plastic baits should be thrown in the garbage. One day a recycling program may come to life, but for now – trash your plastics, not the lake.
